The Simple Woman's Daybook

For today... Sunday, June 3, 2012

Outside my window... Partly cloudy - it looks like there are some rain clouds moving in and there is just a slight breeze.

I am thinking... Of how much work gardening is but what a sense of satisfaction to see everything growing.

I am thankful for... Our little piece of land that allows us to grow things.

From the kitchen...
~Today: Ham, Scalloped Potatoes, Buns, Broccoli, Corn, Tossed Salad, Hot Fudge Pudding Cake
~Monday: Chicken Vegetable Chow Mein, Sweet & Spicy Cucumbers, Rocky Road Cake
~Tuesday: Parmesean Fish, Italian Baked Potatoes, Zucchini Bake, Carrots, Salad, Mint Parfaits
~Wednesday:  Oven Fried Chicken, Basil&Garlic Butter Pasta, Peas, Cauliflower, Salad, Chocolate Chip Cake
~Thursday: Chicken & Pepper Stir-Fry, Rice, Asian Salad, Hot Fudge Pudding Cake
~Friday: Swedish Meatballs (Crockpot), Perogies, Corn, Salad, Ice Cream
~Saturday: Leftover Smorg

I am wearing... Grey dress pants, ruffled grey & pink shirt, grey cardigan, grey boots

I am creating... Father's Day Cards

I am reading... Small Changes for a Better Life by Elizabeth George

I am praying for... My daughter finds a full time job.

Pondering these words...  Dost thou love life?  Then do not squander time, for that is the stuff life is made of. ~Benjamin Franklin~

I am still hoping... The weather will finally warm up as the nights are still near freezing.

I am hearing... My son typing in his room, the air purifier.

Around the house... We are building a storage shed in the backyard near the garden.

One of my favorite things... Being outside.

A few plans for the rest of the week... Farmsitting for my parents, going to Calgary for a car show, yard work & housework and one errand day.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing...

  1. Love the quote by Benjamin Franklin! I hope your daughter had a great 19th birthday! Wishing her the best in finding that job. :-)

  2. Oh, I love this post. I may try this. I am looking for gratitude linky parties. There are so many neat things out in blogland to experience. Have a wonderful Sunday.

  3. Like Patty said, I think I'll give this a try tomorrow. I especially like the from the kitchen...can you share the recipes or maybe you already have and I need to just find them in your space :)

    Have a blessed Sunday Alana!

  4. Thank you Patty!

Maria - I try to put most of the recipes on my blog. If you are looking for one in particular and can't find it just drop me a note and I will send it to you :)

  5. I love that you share your diary with us. It is so inspirational. I wish I could be as organized as you to have such great meal plans.

  6. Patricia - It's organization out of necessity. If I didn't plan my meals we wouldn't eat as I am not a great spur of the moment person :)

  7. Your menu looks delicious! My husbands loves to garden. He will plant whereever there is a spare foot of space :)

    Here's my post:
